Readings in accordance with the old British Standard 5454 1989 within two months of building completion showed high readings of Residual Humidity.

Wet archive material moved from ill equipped tower.

Over a 9 month period the instalment of a forced air conditioning system which controls the purity of the air its temperature and humidity over the whole building.

Plant currently contained in three internal spaces and one external space spread over two levels of the building.

The current system of ensuring a stable environment conducive with preserving the Library’s artifacts is reliant of an ageing 22 years old equipment. This plant is reaching the end of its designed lifespan (25 Years).  

Currently the plant is both expensive monetary and environmentally and is utterly unreliable there have been a number of breakdowns over the past three years in particular. This struggles to maintain the temperature and residual humidity to its designed parameters. It is currently maintained under contract with a cost of £14,722 in the calendar year of 2017.
