The Reading Room This space needs to take in to account its use as offices and visitors and work area so a requirement for a comfortable space is important. No real need to over think the environmental control little in the way of material which shall be affected.
Mappa Chamber A public space with issues of temperature transference due to the nature of the map being under a laminated sheet of glass. The areas monitoring shows that although the RH moves a little during the day when visitors are in the space the ambient temperature affects the map in a quite dramatic way.
The Chained Library
Library Strong Room has had the plant switched off since 3rd November 2016 and it has been discovered that there is almost no intervention required.
Unfortunately when the decision to fit the plant was put in it is likely that the monitoring had to cope with the drying out of the area and coping with the old British Standard. However the new BS4971 which came in in 2017 allows more flexibility. So in the area of the strong room there is little need for any intervention.
